June's work on the "Morganville Quilt"

Intense is the only way to describe Wednesday's work day on the Morganville Quilt.
Course the best time was deciding which fabric and what design.  Thank you to everyone that shared their ideas and thoughts.

The main fabric that we are using was donated to our group by Dorothy Parry.  It was great that she was next door having coffee and could join us for a bit and let us know some history on the pieces.

Some of the 50"s fabric might have come from a dress factory.
Thank you Dorothy for your generosity.

Okay - here is where I fell down.  After the decision was made on what pattern to do........Shirley and Esther got to cutting.  Susie, Carol, Machelle and I got to sewing.  Leila, Deb and Janet got to pressing, cutting, running - etc.  You name it and someone was doing it...............
which means you know who forgot to take pictures.

After lunch when some of the ladies needed to leave, we had a quick show 'n tell thanks to Carol who brought in the t-shirt quilt Sara and Hayley have been working on for a graduating senior in the family.

Then it was back to work and I remembered to take a few pictures.

Doesn't take long and pretty soon you get the gist of what your quilt is going to look like.  Doesn't that red just make this tossed 9-patch zing?

Everyone stayed with the petal to the metal and before long......

we could see where maybe 42 blocks were not going to make a wide enough quilt, long, but not so wide.

We kept busy till after 2 pm when we all decided.....

finish the block you are doing and pack up.
Thank you to everyone for pitching in and getting so much accomplished.
Thank you to Susie for bringing in the white and cream muslin (as you can see, the white was decided on).
From cutters to runners - boy are we good as a group.
See you in July when we will put this quilt together.
