Cloudy with a chance of Sunshine!!!!!

What a gorgeous day!!!!!

Lots to do and thank you Susie for bringing your light box in for Esther.

This is a quilt that Esther started 10 years ago as Marcella taught her needle turn applique.
It is difficult to pick up a project that brings back memories of friends - but Esther says it is time.

This is the pattern they used and everything is done up to the four corners with their applique pieces.

While Esther drew, Machelle and Susie converse about how the Dear Jane blocks are coming along for Machelle.

And then Twilling discussion with Carol.

Juanita was one of those that took the Crazy Quilting embroidery class with Terri Melby.  The kit included this bar with all the thread and ribbon needed for the project

And this is where Juanita is to this point.  Oooohhhh!!!!  Looking good Juanita.

Everyone had their projects to work on.......

and of course we all had to see each others and see what was what.

Juanita has finished another one of her twilling blocks for the PQG BOM.  Think Susie said that this was the 5th one as one of the finished blocks ended up taking a bath in coffee.  Eeeekkkk!  We are going to try and see what we can do about getting that one cleaned up.  Good practice.
Great job Juanita.

After lunch -
..................SHOW 'n TELL.................

Bonnie and Marcella were very instrumental in starting the "Quilts from the Heart" project at the Manhattan Konza Prairie Quilt Guild and it is still going on today.  Vevia belongs to the guild and she brought in her finished quilt for this years donation.  She also had a bag made up to go with it.

After Terri Melby's program at the Piotique Quilters Guild, Machelle decided to take some little scraps she had laying around and see what she could come up with. Here are the four sewn together crazy quilt blocks Machelle has made so far.  Will be looking forward to seeing what she does with them.

Lorraine finished a turning 20 pattern quilt to gift away.  Gorgeous and happy Lorraine.

Carol brought in her Holly Hock quilt for those that had not seen it.  We have been talking about bulbs, seeds, etc.  Some of us could plant on concrete and have success.  Others of us - well let's just say - not so much.  hahahaha

Susie presented these chicken blocks to the embroidery group at Clay Center's quilt guild - here, she finally got the chance to finish her own blocks and into a quilt.

Susie said that 20 years ago she started this quilt.  NO - we could not look closely at it.  hahahaha
This quilt is done with heavy double sided fusible and satin stitches - not the type of applique that Susie does today..........but it is so fun to look at.
And quite some stories to go with it - pattern loaned to a person that passed away and they had loaned it to someone else - who knew whom? - and then found the pattern on Etsy for $1 - so time to finish it, and it is a great finish.

Don't you just love the pig?  Remember, click on pictures to see them larger.

Even the sun has it's heat rays around it.

After lunch and Show 'n Tell it is back to work and yeah!  Carol finished this thread catcher.....

for Lorraine.  Long story, ask the ladies.

Then Carol got working on another pillow case for graduation.

Juanita back to embroidery

Susie embroidering away.

Until the ladies ask - What?  What is that?

Well, Susie wanted to see how tiny she could go on the crazy quilting - and she said this is it.  No littler.  The strawberry is filled with crushed walnuts so that you can sharpen your needles.

Believe a lot was accomplished by everyone and we definitely had a good snack here and there.
Doughnuts, cookies and such delicious rhubarb and topping.
Wished I had taken home the rest and let Tom go without.  hahaha.
Thank you everyone for a great day and
have fun over the next weeks.
Looking forward to seeing as many as possible on the 25th when Bonnie comes in for a visit.
