What fun to see Pat G. even if for only a few minutes. Sscchh! I did not even have my camera out.
Sorry you could not stay - but great to say hi.
And then the fun of seeing everyone set up and what they are going to be working on.
Jenell H. joined us to get some other opinions on colors.
The quilt she is working on for her daughter is going to go from teal to blue, with everything in between. What fun to lay out and see what transitioned well and what popped out too much.
Carol has finished a Jelly Roll Race II quilt center and brought it to put on the borders. First off was working on taming all of those seams. Carol sure missed Leila, she always does such a great job with the pressing.
Lisa and Susie both had hand projects in progress.
Miss Sara is working on a civil war sampler.
Janet has a wedding coming up and this gorgeous quilt is going to be her gift
By the end of the day, Janet had a wonderful start.
Cyndy got her elephant done and brought it in to have Susie quilt it.
Remember the backing that Cyndy bought oodles of and thought she had plenty?
Well when you are trying to find the repeat part - 7 yards may not be enough.
Cyndy did a fantastic job matching up and sewing the fabric together. We saw the seam, not sure others will when it is done.
Because of that elephant, many of the girls will be doing this cow paper piecing project. Have your pattern and everything ready for the Sept. 22nd Saturday start day. See Lisa or Susie to get ready.
Lorraine brought in her new fabric acquisition. Wow and double Wow! Such pretty fabric.
Cyndy started something when this little tyke turned one and now she is having to keep up every year. Think she said she is doing 3 now.
After lunch was Show 'n Tell. Carol brought in her rail fence basket weave quilt for Susie to quilt. Love the brightness of it.
And Susie has finished her twilling over two year project. All Blocks done, together and the quilting?! Another WOW!!!!
It is not easy to get pictures of the quilting, but if you click on the picture, it should come in a little larger so you can see the work.
The backing shows it off some more. Great job Susie.
For those of you that are interested in learning to twill - check out this video about the palestrina stitch.
You can also go here to Needle and Thread to learn more about twilling.
Towards the end of the day, Carol got some help on squaring up her jelly roll race quilt so that she can put on the borders.
Hope everyone had fun, learned something, had good conversation and perhaps finished something. hahahahah Okay maybe not - but the fun/learning/talking part anyway.
School starts this month - Please be careful on the roads!!!
