It's always a sun shiny day when the Morganville Friendship group gets together, and Wednesday was a great example. Susie opened up the room in the rain, Vevia and Leila came in on the last sprinkles, and as the others arrived - the sun shone down on our group.
Always love the hectic joy of friends coming in, setting up and sharing what has been going on with everyone.
And the magazines - thank you ever so much ladies for bringing in your newest magazines to share. Machelle brought in her latest "Primitive Gatherings" - full of fall choices.
Once the set up is done - off to work.
Leila is hand quilting a small wall hanging.
Juanita is working on her twilling.
Susie is working on something that I can not show - that's why the black blur.
Esther is working on an applique.
Lorraine took a moment to watch others, but see all the scraps built up, she is squaring up her four-patches for the exchange we are doing. Many of the ladies brought their packets in and handed them out. Lorraine had a great day and finished up quite a few packets.
Did not get to see what all Deb is working on, but her mat is very helpful. She cut on one side, turned it over and ironed on the other side.
Frances is sewing up some patches, she's not sure yet what they will end up being. What fun.
Janet is working on her twilling.
Carol was cutting out the first part of a quilt she is starting for a grandson.
Donnis is putting on the binding to her Piotique Quilters Guild challenge.
And a Whoop - Whoop!!!!! to Juanita. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Machelle didn't pick up part of her work tools so decided to help Susie out by tearing off the paper from Susie's paper piecing project. Oh what a hassle. But thanks to Juanita - things sped up with the aid of a disposable glove. The rubber helps your fingers grip the paper easier. Such a simple solution - how come none of us thought of it? Share everyone - this is a winner.
**********
Donnis was going to have to leave right after lunch - so we decided to stop everything and do a little Show 'n Tell.
Donnis started us off - first on the agenda was to tell us all again how tickled she was last month at her "party" and all the fun she had unrolling the "flowers" and finding out what fat quarters where hidden inside. Think she said 32 FQ's and two larger pieces of fabrics.
It was a wonderful surprise to her and she wanted us to know how much she appreciated our thoughtfulness. You are welcome Donnis. It was fun for us - especially keeping it a secret.
This is one woman that won't let moss grow on her birthday FQ's - she has already made 17 pairs
- yep 17 pairs -
of hot pads for her family with some of them.
Donnis had her binding project to show us - course I can not show it - it's her challenge piece.
And Esther also showed us her Piotique Quilters Guild Challenge piece
and of course I can not show that.
However, I can show you the back.
Esther has come out of her comfort zone several times this year.
Here is another one - a quilted piano runner - using black.
Esther even planned the back so that it is reversible.
Think she said for her daughter.
Lorraine proudly showed off her blocks that she is squaring up for the exchange.
Juanita showed us her Twilling block she is currently working on.
Machelle almost overwhelmed us with her Show 'n Tell items.
She started out by showing us her Trader's Joe bag she got as a gift from her sis and then she started pulling out her items.
Machelle and Tom went 4 wheeling recently - it's always rough on Machelle as the dust really bothers her - so she got on line found a pattern for a mask and this time enjoyed the ride.
Sun Bonnets were once a rage - this one Machelle has made for her daughter? Granddaughter?
Which ever - loved it. Especially the the different edge design.
She also had her tea cup and saucer carrier finally finished.
Now when she goes to the Tea put on by the Piotique Quilters Guild, she won't have to worry about carrying her china.
Oh WOW! Doesn't this just make you want to get out your 18" dolls and play?
Machelle has two granddaughters that are still at that age and what a wonderful gift, pantaloons and all.
Rats! When these notebook covers came out of her bag - we thought they were for us.
hahahahahahaha
She's making them for the family. What fun and great items. In case you have not seen, the composition books are currently at Wal-Mart for 50 cents each.
Deb - thank you for the show stopper for me.
This quilt took my breath away. Course I love embroidery, love baskets with flowers and the red and white setting was perfect.
I meant it when I said I would love to borrow that pattern - Deb.
Isn't it gorgeous?
Ann H. in Clifton, did the quilting and what a wonderful job - front and back.
Yeah! It is done. Deb has been working on this tie quilt made out of Mark's work ties for a bit now. We watched her tear the ties apart, sew, and then hand quilt it to the finish.
And what a finish! Makes your eyes go a little crazy if you are not careful.
Frances has a relative (great niece I think) getting married so Frances made her this version of a wedding ring quilt. Love the look from afar.
And loved taking a closer look at it. Look at all those feathers that Frances put in it.
The back really shows off all the wonderful quilting.
This is Frances' "Jimmy Dean Sausage" quilt.
hahahahahaha
Remember the commercials and the suns rays over the heads?
Well this is what inspired Frances.
Frances also made this Judy Niemeyer quilt with it's ray design. Click on Judy's name to go see more of Judy's quilts.
Frances you did a wonderful job - and ladies, she did it from her stash. The red really made it pop.
*****************
After lunch - Lorraine finished squaring up the blocks she brought in.
Machelle got help with tearing the papers off of Susie's Judy Niemeyer blocks......
and more help.......
and more help! hahaha
Susie thanks all of you ladies that worked so hard for her. Now she is ready to start the fun process of figuring out how she will set them together. This is the same project that Frances showed us; however, Susie is making a large bed size.
And I finished the blocks that I brought to do.
What a great day with everyone accomplishing something,
especially having a good time with good friends.
See you next month
