The morning started out with frost and a chill in the air, but thankfully warmed up later. Heard the high was around 57°. Now if the wind had co-operated. hahahaha
Lovely getting together after all the holiday hoop-a-la. So much to catch up on and share. Looking forward to seeing the new project that Pat is working on. Susie brought in some rulers to show Pat and give her ideas.
Deb T was right at work with this quilt that we all are anxious to see finished. Deb has done such a gorgeous job on the sections we have seen. Don't you just want to take that bike home with you and use yourself in something?
Sometimes we decide to do a project and then later realize we spent most of our time prepping the parts. Susie has 13 blocks to prepare for applique like this. It will be a beautiful Wool Quilt using the Japanese fabrics as the background. Maybe we can talk Lisa into bringing in her finished one for us all to see.
Got a chance to look through Susie's book, "Handful of Scraps" by Edyta Sitar. Oooh. The Sitar family has some gorgeous heirlooms and the ones from a museum in Michigan, well, they all just take your breath away.
Don't know how Lisa is doing it, but she is going through her "stash" and giving away things! Egads! The woman is brave. For the rest of us - THANK YOU!!!! We got some great items.

Susie got one of the block's pieces all cut out and was punching the wool into the background to help hold it till stitched down.

Juanita has a Vera Bradley purse that was right up my alley. Love the embroidery and quilting of it. And look at the quilt Juanita had on her phone that she likes - gorgeous work.
Lisa is transferring a pattern on to the fabric.
Juanita is coloring her fabric before she starts the embroidery. Got pointers from Susie, and a little help with colors from everyone.
Susie brought in her "Color Palette" case to show Juanita and talk about which color tools do what.
After lunch, we got a good Show 'n Tell "trunk show":
Carol brought in her "Candle in the Window" to show Vevia/me. I did not remember ever seeing it.
So difficult of a pattern when you look at the whole,
then get up close and you start seeing that Carol's color choices helped make these two simple blocks seem so intricate. Good eye Carol.
Lorraine was high in the sky over the quilting that Susie got into this 20 year old UFO. Love it and love the last border with the "hint" of "sparkle". Good job, both ladies.
Lorraine also has this quilt ready to go to Susie for quilting. Hear tell the next one might be a black and white color choice. Oh, I hope so. That would be striking.
Deb brought in this new baby quilt. Not sure if boy or girl on the way, but definitely will be a K-State fan. hahahha
Susie finished this wool quilt and what a beauty it is. So different in it's placement. Definitely something to be proud of.
The Crazy Farm is done. Okay, I do not remember what it is actually called, but those farm critters sure are lovable. This is the first embroidery that Susie has used the back stitch on and she did a good job. If you have ever seen the "Elefantz" blog, she does a lot of back stitch embroidery, and states that 15 stitches to an inch is what makes it look so smooth. Didn't count Susie's stitches, but they looked pretty darn good to me.
This block I just want to take home. Isn't that the cutest goat you have ever seen? Goats do not show up very often, so this one is really a charmer. Remember, click on the pictures and they do come in larger so that you can get a better look.
Susie is also working on this Christmas tree embroider and color. She has all the border blocks ready to go when this is done.
How many different thimbles can a person have? Not enough. There is always something out there that gives you a little more coverage. Susie was getting a callous on her thumb and when she saw this thimble, she had to try it - and it works.

Was a good day, and a shame to have to miss some of our friends. Hope we all can get together next month.
