What a beautiful day to gather with friends
and what fun to see what everyone is doing.
Course you know we have to go around and yak for the first 30 minutes or sew.......ha ha
This is just some of the work that Deb T. has been doing for a new quilt
Here is the pattern so you can get an idea of where she is headed - though Deb definitely wants different setting blocks, just not up to the spectacular embroidery work in the middle.
Deb has such a beautiful smile, while others of us (me) just can't get it all together.
But then - when you have a goofy holiday shirt on - others are suppose to smile, not you, right?
Machelle is working on her winter quilt and coming right along.
After she finishes with the embroidery panels, she will be starting on the setting blocks.

This is what Lisa is working on. To make the snowman stand out, the pattern called for a double row of stem stitching around his body. Really made him stand out that way, great job Lisa.

And surprise, surprise, the other side of the table was crazily at work also.
Susie is learning how to punch embroidery - worst part is threading the needle.
Some had done it in the 70's and 80's when there were no hoops up off your lap. Few punctures here and there - thankfully Susie won't experience that.

And Deb continuing on her Crap-Apple Hill project.
Donnis and Machelle got some catching up and hand work going.
Was so good to see Jan up from Manhattan. We have not had a chance to see much of her this past year, praying for a better 2020 for her and all of our members.
Oh wow, wow, wow. Not only are these ladies talented in their artistic expression with thread and cloth - they also know how to make their kitchens sing out. It was fabulous by the way.
Before we sat down to eat, we got a group photo (after about 300 tries with the timer)
with everyone smiling.

Deb had a tell - some new thread - Cotton & Steel brand.
Jot down on your calendar for August of 2020 - Susie is giving a presentation on thread and needles at the Clay Center Piotique Quilters Guild and was very interested in this new product.
Please note: CCPQG still meets on the 3rd Monday night of the month at 6:30 pm; however, it is now in the basement of the Methodist church. Go in the door on 5th Street side, elevator or stairs down.
Carol was sewing on binding on her Christmas wall hangings for the girls. Sure looks good Carol. How many have you done now?
Lisa has been putting together orphan blocks.
You will have to ask her the story of how she obtained them.
The work done on both of these quilts was outstanding and Lisa has really made them shine with the setting similar to their time period.
Susie has been quilting her "rescued" quilt tops. She picks them up at auctions and the such. Cleans them up and then practices her long arming, coming up with some prize winning looks.
This one is roses within a vine type border.

Grand job on all three of them Susie.
TIP from Susie - never cut out a new quilt project while you are talking. ha ha
This is a spectacular 9 patch wonder - even with you messing up on the 7/8ths of this and thats and having to get more fabric, Susie, it looks great.
Don't you just love the movement in it.
Machelle is making this quilt for a new grandson. She had trouble with her yellows too close together and did some creative cutting and sewing back to come up with this change of a disappearing 9-patch version. The light blue blocks have cars in them. So cute.
I believe we all had a grand last of the year meeting/gathering and the things you get to talking about is amazing. The "barn" on the way to Deb's was brought up. Vevia couldn't remember how to get there and wanted a picture before someone decided to tear it down, and bless Machelle, she offered to "guide the way".
Made it home before dark - and it was well worth it.

What an adventure to leave home in one direction and come back from another and getting to see the countryside.
