Special Thanks to Susie for opening up and turning on the appropriate controls for the day. With the weather we have been having, you can hardly get it cool enough inside before it is time to pack up. Imagine what it would be like if Susie wasn't so vigilant.
Wonderful time to catch up on what has been going on with everyone. Missing a few due to the weather, health, or appointments elsewhere.
Some of the ladies put their time to good use sewing on the binding for this quilt. Lorraine was able to be with us and she kept coming over to watch and comment on how gorgeous this quilt was.
So many different types of projects going on - shows just how diversified this group is AND how talented.
Jeanette has a dilemma. She would love to taker off the flowers and use in her crazy quilting; however, the top is so gorgeous she can't force herself to do it.
Lisa had a couple of show and tell tops before lunch. This one has 'nothing' but 9-patches. Wow! size, positioning and you have such a gorgeous hidden look to it.
This Mystery quilt has been fun and a learning curve for Lisa. She said that if it wasn't for Lorraine, the border would not have looked so good. Congrats Lorraine for seeing the how.
After lunch Cyndy started us off with Show 'n Tell with the project she is currently working on. An Elephant Abstract from Violet Craft - click on to go see other patterns.
She has the trunk done as shown in picture top right, and even has the backing fabric printed up to "play nice with the front". Get particulars from Cyndy.
Cyndy has also been busy finishing up a penny rug and making several small hanging quilts for her stand.
Most of the fabric for these are from her grandmother's stash.
Jeanette is coming into the home stretch on her crazy quilting. She found this wonderful spider to add to her work. Click on the picture to see it come in larger.
AQS says: The quilter and the spider have a long history together. As the spider works her threads through time, she represents an industrious, creative creature weaving webs to catch things like luck, wealth, and good fortune. Many cultures hold the spider in esteem, looking to her for wisdom and well being. Not unlike a quilter, not at all.
During the era of Crazy Quilting spiders and their webs were often sewn into quilts. This tradition continues today with quilting designs of webs stitched into quilts.
Carol found a crocheted doily in a jar and brought it to share with us. Gorgeous tiny work with thread that is not coarse like so much of the threads available today. Thank you for sharing your find Carol.
Janet has finished her wedding ring quilt. Think there are 9 ladies with the Clay Center Piotique Quilters that are doing this pattern

Finishing of this quilt has not always been the same. Will be interesting to see them all side by side when done.
Sara made individual wall hangings for Christmas one year, with a single star of this design. Liked it so much that she decided to make a full size quilt for her self.

I finished my 4-patch exchange from 2016, "Paths Converged", by putting them into a Jacobs Ladder pattern and then laying them out in a modern twist. Ann H. did the quilting.
Remember that blue quilt that the ladies were putting the binding on? Well Carol called Lorraine up to help hold it and then she read the label - Made with Love and Prayers FOR Lorraine. hahahahahaha Good thing Lorraine liked it so much. Think we took her by surprise. All of us are very thankful that she is doing so well. Keep it up Lorraine.
Then it was back to work on projects. Carol had the ladies put up the design wall so she could lay out her basket weave rail fence quilt. Boy is it all coming together beautifully. And......she only has to make one more setting side triangle and finish sewing it up. Always great when you find out that you have made enough blocks to do the project.
Janet worked on her setting triangles and worked up that she has two more rail fence blocks to make to have enough to put hers together.
It was a very busy day and a lot accomplished by most everyone.
Sara enjoyed having so much table room to lay out her project and finish "designing" the look she is after.
