The wonderful folks at the library had the A/C on for their summer reading program, so when we arrived the room was perfect..........well, for most of us. ha ha
It was pick up day on the Quilt for Morganville's Party in the Ville money earner.
Everyone is pleased with the results, everyone did a great job on the blocks. Susie did a beautiful job quilting and Deb T.'s binding finished it off perfect.
Thank you everyone that was a part of the making of this quilt.
We did ourselves proud.
And we pray that Morganville raises oodles of dollars on this beauty.
Look at the size of this quilt.
It will fit any bed. We need to make sure that we all get our tickets.
Since we did not meet in July, Vevia started the day, presenting the "Every Which Way Sue" pattern that could be used with remaining fabric from Dorthy Perry's gift to us.
The pattern was designed so that you could set it any which way and not have to cut any piece different. If you were not able to attend the meeting and would like a copy of the pattern, click here.
The scraps left over were divided out to those that were interested in doing some blocks.
At this time there was not an interest to do an exchange. Only the small left over pieces of the fabric from the 9-Patch blocks were handed out.
Deb is starting a Crabapple Hill project. Lots of coloring and then embroidery. Finding white crayons in the stores might be a little difficult, but there are several places you can get them on line, including this one......click here for more info.
This is the pattern that Deb is working on now.
There are four patterns available currently, click here to check out the ones included in this "Girls' Getaway.
Everyone had their projects to work on - or were waiting for inspirations.....
we have some of Dorthy's fabric left and Deb found an inspiration that
Esther and Pat jumped right on and started figuring out how many rails we could get out of each piece of dress making fabric and how large of a square.
The more minds the merrier - right?
Lorraine is starting on a Christmas throw - she did not say which Christmas it is for though. ha ha
Janet worked on her twilling berries - yikes are they small.
Carol also brought her twilling to work on. Love the background fabrics all these ladies are doing on their twilling projects.
It's back to school days at Dollar Tree. Vevia found this magic cover stuff for the kids to cover their books - it sticks, but is not yucky sticky. Well - don't you know this is the perfect stuff to cut slim sections from and mark your rulers with. Comes off and goes on with no left over residue and is bright and lets you see where you want that fabric to be. Remember, all things at Dollar Tree are $1.
Vevia also showed these rulers that she had gotten at "Quilters Yard" in Junction City at a recent demo she attended for the Westalee quilting products.
Easy directions to follow - Vevia had an example to show
the steps to reach mitered corners using the back fabric (or the front - your choice and direction) to "bind" the edges.
Come to next month's meeting to see the final result.
By the way - watch what you lay where - Vevia had watermelon for lunch and some how juice dripped from the container, through a plastic bag and on to the project. Soaking it now to get the pink you see on the bottom right picture - out.
Sschh! Always something to learn. hahahaha
See you next month - bring your machines and join in on the fun of the rail fence community quilt.
Safe driving - school starts this month!
