ROAD TRIP a Hit !!!!!

In case you do not recognize the location or all of the people - Morganville Friendship Group met the Linn Group at "Our Daily Bread" in Barnes, KS.  (To see the pictures enlarged, click on one and you will get an enlarged version of pictures only, click on the upper right corner "x" and you will be back to the story)
What a great turn out, 20+, had so much fun - did not count exact heads.   Thank you Daily Bread for the wonderful set up you had ready for us.
Everyone always wants to make sure the photographer gets in at least one picture - so here you are - the nut waving her hands.
If you get a chance, visit "Our Daily Bread", Mon - Sat, 9am - 4pm.  Lunch is served 11 am - 2:30 pm.  It is a wonderful "Bake Shoppe" full of lots of goodies as well as the restaurant part.  They now have a few of their products available at Rays in Manhattan and they ship.  You can go to www.Our-DailyBread.com to see more.  And mark your calendars - Antique & Junque Festival in Barnes is Saturday, August 17th.  Fun begins at 9 am.  Food, music AND City Wide Garage Sales.

After lunch we headed over to Linn where Deb introduced us to their meeting building.  Oh oh oh oh oh - what fun.  Everywhere you looked you found inspiration.  Not only do they have classes, BOM, and sew days - they also have a group that hand quilts.  Some of the ladies that take classes and join in on the sew days, were ones that Bonnie taught to quilt - lots for everyone to talk about and Bonnie - you were missed.

The hand quilters had just finished a 126" x 126" quilt recently and had just put this one on the frame on Monday.  It was such fun to follow the bow tie maze and look at all the possibilities with the large and small ties.

They do a lot of quilts for shelters and other organizations and the pile below is just a sample of their work.  Have you been checking out the walls?
Everywhere there was something - loved this Stitch a little and talk a lot wall hanging.  Know anyone like that?  hahahahah

 New techniques were talked about......
all the time that your hunger and thirst for our craft was being fed from every nook and cranny.   Think we could all say that - Sewing definitely mends the soul.

Lori is showing off a top that has the same fabric in it as some fabric that we had gotten from Bonnie.

Its great to get together and share - from our group,  Susie gave a class on Twilling.  The picture below is the quilt that Susie did showcasing the twilling in the flowers.
Susie had plenty of kits made up for everyone that was interested in learning.
Three easy steps, several samples and they were on their way.
 Ruth  and
Maydean were two of the ladies that zipped right through Susie's instructions and were making great progress.  Think Susie has converted another group to twilling and left behind quite a few new instructors for anyone else that may be interested later.
Before we left for the day, Jan found us a perfect sign...............

Thank you to our drivers for the day and to our Linn hostesses.  Hopefully in September, some of the Linn ladies will be joining us for Tilted Logs.  See you all later.
