June - small but powerful!!!!!!!!!

Maybe there were only 5 of us at the June meeting - Missed a lot of friends not being there - but we did accomplish so much and learned a lot.
Deb is working on embroidering her panel to bring out the lines.  Susie gave her a few suggestions and of course we all oohed and aahhed it.  Also learned a bit about Pearl Cotton, sizes (larger the number, smaller the thread) and a brand new holder for your spool.  Thanks ladies for sharing.

Susie is working on another quilt that will have twilling incorporated into it.  Susie was able to get this much done in one day - now of course if we had not have talked, show and telled, talked, ate, talked - you get the picture - she could have gotten a lot more done.  hahahah

Donnis brought in this lovely table runner to show us what the tilted log cabin was.  It got entered into our possible someday classes and then no one could remember exactly what it was.  Good memory Donnis, she even found the book it was in.
Donnis even gave us a quick class - start with a lot cabin block - don't you just love this scrappy one?

Cut

Move

Sew together and join and this is what she ended up with.  Ooh ooh the ideas that we came up with from this.  We want to do this in September.  Everyone do up their log cabins before and then cut and re-join and see what we get.  More information will be forth coming as to sizes, etc.  Looking forword to seeing what people come up with and you only need three or four blocks - no huge assignment.  Thank you Donnis.

Donnis also had this lovely doll blanket that she had made from orphan blocks.  What a darling quilt.
Deb really loved the border miter class last month.  She had four more placemats done and brought them in for us to see.  Doesn't that look like an alligator skin or leather.  It is really cotton and very soft.  Deb did find out that she is not thrilled with invisible thread as it shifted her fabric some.  But we tried to encourage her to give it another try with a longer thread length.  Hope she does and we get to see what that does.  If anyone has hints - we are all ears.   Great job Deb.
Deb had also picked up this Embroidery Pocket Guide at the long arm show in Wichita.  Cost about $5, is laminated and folds up for easy carrying along with you.  Everyone is on the lookout for where they can get one.

We are hoping to take a road trip on July 3rd, UFO work in August, and tilted logs in September that's what is on the list for upcoming.  Machelle is always looking for ideas to present to the friendship group - if you have something - let her know.
Looking forward to seeing EVERYONE next time - Bonnie made it safe and she is already missed.
Have fun and remember to bring your show and tell.
