The skies may have looked gray outside, but the work going on inside was sunshine bright and gorgeous. Yeah!!!!! Machelle is going to get the 2012 Border of the Month done - she said the fun part was finding all the pieces to bring to the meeting. It is already looking stunning Machelle - so keep up the good work.
Everyone watched Deb closely as she worked on her placemat project. Click on the link shown to get your own two page instructions for 12" x 16" placemats, done by Karen Montgomery. We give her a great big Thank You for making them user friendly.

As you can see here, Deb has finished her cutting with the special ruler she has for the mitered corners.
Iron over 1/2"....
Sew up the 45 degree miter corner......
And ALA-KA-ZAMM!!!!! A gorgeous finished mitered corner.
What Deb thought might take her all day or at least all the morning, was even hand sewn down completed in about an hour. Beautiful.
Vevia did a twist on the placemat and decided to do a table runner using the same method. She learned a lot.......using only material she had in her stash, she combined the 4 patch posie method for her squares, bordered them - aha! you lose some green border there and next time remember how much fabric you have - almost did not have enough to make the back and come up over the front.
Donnis is quite the innovator - check out the back side of this table runner.....very soft looking as she liked the wrong side of the fabric better than the "right" side.
The bottom placemat is the first one Donnis made and did not put borders on it, this new one - look close, she has two borders on it. Gives it a wider coverage. Hope we get to see this one again with the binding done - picture is not the best.
Susie managed to drop by for a few minutes - with a wonderful plastic tote full of free stuff, and....
Look at what she found. Wool that is heavenly to touch, Dollar Tree store bag for holding your foot pedal and cords - for $1, a beautiful panel of quilts on display fabric called "Patchwork Garden" by Cat Williams and "Applique' & Embroidery Fundamentals" book by Janice Vaine. The step by step process is one of the best we've seen with precise pictures and directions.
Susie also found some wheat fabric that was a hit with all. It is an RJR fabric called "Making Hay, the works" by Dan Morris. Susie had stopped at "Cotton Cottage" in Claremore, Ok. and raved about it. You can like them on Facebook.the cotton cottage.
Shirley had a wonderful show and tell. Isn't this one of the best settings you have seen for 12 month BOM project? Not sure what the blocks are from and some of their names escaped all of us - but the oohs and aahs put a wonderful stamp of approval on it.
Donnis finished her Carpenters Wheel quilt. Hers is even prettier than the one we all made for Morganville (please don't tell the winner of that quilt though). Love the border, the quilting, the everything. This one - Donnis is keeping for herself.
What a great day to share the brightness of friendship even with it raining as everyone left. Looking forward to seeing everyone next month - praying that those that could not make it are blessed and can come next time.
