First off we got a tour of Donnis and Joe's home. Not only does Donnis have some lovely quilts on display, but she also has antique doilies crocheted by herself and family members before her. I love the above 5 cent quilt. Did I get that name correct?
As you go downstairs, on a landing wall is the Quilt as you go - Border quilt. Down stairs you find quilted table runners and....
other lovely quilts "hanging" around. This quilt was a great hit.
Some years ago, Dee made the patterns for this strip star quilt to be passed around and others add to your project.
Donnis presented us with coffee, tea and snacks before we got down to the business of Show 'n Tell. Susie had a hum bug bag to show and then passed around fabric that everyone could look at and take their pick for the bags they wanted to make next month. Machelle will be getting out a supply list soon.
Deb had finished her Multiplying 4-patch and what a beauty it is. You'll have to ask Deb how she turned and sewed back on her "chop offs".
Deb also brought in the packaging for the Steady Betty helper. It is a foam type item that you can put on your rulers to help hold them in place while you cut and it does not stick the ruler way up in the air.
Machelle had finished one of her Multiplying 4-Patches and then let us know that this one she is keeping and going to make another one or two for the granddaughters. After all - this is her colors.
Wow!!! Not only did Machelle make this lovely center piece with wonderful new fabric, but she made it reversible and with opposite fabrics in center and edging. She said it is easy to match them up as they have a unique shape. Could be?
Machelle had taken a class in Abilene from Vevia in what to do with your old bed springs - here are three of them. So Diva-ish. Loved them Machelle.
Vevia had read a book from the children's section at the Clay Center Carnegie library called "MOOSHKA, A Quilt Story" by Julie Paschkis and was inspired to make this quilt. In the book, the fabrics were from dresses, shirts, aprons even bandanas. Vevia got some of her fabric from Bonnie and Iowana and while she was putting them up on the design wall - this figuration came into being. Just half square triangles - what a look.
Bonnie was unable to bring this gigantic - huge - colossal bean bag, covered in leopard fabric, to show us the finished project she did, but she did have a picture. Wow Bonnie! That was some work. And she had to line it, put zippers in the liner, etc. to make it all work. And as you can see here - it is loved.
Deb never lets time slip away. While we were all talking of upcoming projects - she was not only adding her thoughts to the discussion, but also quilted away on this candlewicked designed quilt.
After the lovely meeting at Donnis' some of us went over to the restaurant in Clifton and enjoyed some more quilting conversation along with some great lunch.
Thank you again Donnis for a lovely day and a wonderful time to get to chat.
