Machelle found a great product at Menards. This is a "Flexiduct", the original cord cover. Costs about $13 and was absolutely fantastic. If you go to sews and take your drop cord - this is a must. No more loop-de-loops of electrical cords for people to trip over. STILL be careful, I have tripped over a dust bunny.
Machelle was full of new things, she also brought in this "Flower Stitch" attachment to show us. They have adapter attachments so that you can use it on different machines. Machelle is still learning; however, it makes some darling flowers with the stitches that you have on your machine and this 'go around in circles' attachment. Think Nancy's Notions might have it - check out the web.
Vevia brought in some needles that Susie was kind enough to get for her to try for embroidery and applique. SHARP, fantastic for making perfect french knots as the eye is smaller. Very fine, sharp needles. Vevia says you do need to be careful as they poke easily - perhaps surgeon sharp. Cost is $4.50 for this mixed pack. If you are interested, give Susie a call as she can order them for us. Thanks ahead of time Susie, I know who wants a couple more packs - have to send to sis.
Did not get pictures of all the UFO projects that everyone was working on, binding seemed to be the top billing for the day. Susie had her twilling, Donnis was putting together a piano key border and these two were working on their "Quilt as you go - Border" quilts. Tickle me dogtooth and geese on the curve. Wonderful jobs ladies. Looking forward to more of the completed QAYGB's.
We talked about upcoming months and what we would like to do. Donnis would like us all to come over and see her Border Quilt now hanging on the wall and to visit and enjoy each others company - so the day was set. Deb had told Machelle that she thought the placemats that Jane had showed us would be a good idea for an upcoming project, and Susie has so many fabric samples and that they would be great for bags, similar to the one that Susie had made Iowana. Then Machelle mentioned that her and Dee had done some that were for carrying your sewing stuff with pockets inside. IDEA!!!! Susie will bring the samples to Donnis' so that we can all pick out fabric to make the bag in April and have time to match colors for zippers, lining, etc. Machelle will get with Dee and see who has the pattern easily found.
Show and Tell was a fun time.
Judy could not be with us last month; however, she did get the Multiplying 4 Patch pattern and came up with two table runners for herself. What a new concept - something for your self. I love this first one - "Indecision". She can turn it to have one color out front, or the other.
This one Judy made first - gave her the idea for the one shown above.
Iowana brought in her Brown Bag Christmas exchange that Deb did for her. Iowana always wanted to make a wall hanging wreath - now she does not have to. Great job Deb.
Donnis had chosen the disappearing 4 patch method and in a smaller size, this is her finished table runner. Love how the figured fabric pops here and there.
What do you do with orphan blocks? Join them together and make a table runner. What a wonderful gift idea.
Donnis also uses left over fabric to make up pot holders that her grandchildren adore.
Machelle found this little item, bought it and took it home to wash up. When she saw it - guess who she thought of? Well, once it was clean - it is a tea strainer with beads galore. Okay, Machelle, you never said where you were going to display it. Lots of work in that adornment. Thank you so much for bringing it in.
Remember those horrible ugly blocks that Vevia showed us when she demonstrated the Multiplying 4 Patch - well here they are put together and thank heaven for the border - it at least makes it presentable. Hopefully somebody will love it.

For those that had not seen this at Christmas, Machelle found these fabrics in Concordia and made up this darling table mat.
Esther is still working on her postage stamp quilt, had to get a picture of this - love it, love it, love it. Such a great idea.
Vevia found a pattern at the "No Place Like Home" quilt shop in Minn., Ks and adapted it to work for a large throw that she made for the Dance Co. in Clay Center. They have a spring concert coming up and hopefully the throw will help generate some funds for them. Raw edge applique flowers give it a soft look that will get better with each washing.
And Vevia told on herself. This is a quilt as you go, but instead of the log cabin way of putting it together, she did a courthouse step construction. AND she goofed on the figuring and cut the back fabric strips wrong. Had to add white to areas to lengthen and widen. Hubby told her it broke up the monotony of the speckled back - at least it will make people think what was she trying for. hahahahahah
Since it is for the Dance Co. it had to have an appropriate label - thus the 3-D ballet slipper.
