Show and Tell time

Donnis came ready to share.  The top picture is from the time a few years back, when everyone provided their own fabric and passed around for others to make a block for them.  Outstanding everyone.  Donnis, I love the setting you chose.  The bottom picture - oops, too many days have passed and I forgot what Donnis said about the table runner.

Donnis also brought in her Christmas exchange item to share with those that were not able to attend in December.  This was a project that if you were enterested, you brought 3 fat quarters in a brown paper bag and exchanged with others.  Iowana got Donnis' bag and this is the table runner Iowana made for Donnis.
Susie got Deb's bag and made this gorgeous quilted item which Mark framed for Deb.  I believe that counts as two gifts in one.

Other members need to bring back their Christmas gifts in February to share with those that were absent in December.

Now that the holidays are over - really looking forward to the next Show and Tell.

Strides in Multiplying 4-Patch

At our last meeting, we worked on taking a simple 4-patch, putting it on the "chopping block" to come up with another look.  First picture is Jan's, she  needs something on her table for St. Patty's day.  Bottom picture above is Machelle's.

Vevia brought in several examples for everyone to look at.

Lorraine did one multiplying 4-patch; however, she enjoyed the look she got when she did the disappearing 4-Patch technique as shown here.

Deb used 4 colors and with different placements of the chopped off sections, came up with a very striking look.

Machelle will be doing two doll blankets in the multiplying 4-patch, this is the 4-patches she will be using to put on the chopping block for the next one.

Esther's multiplying 4-patch is looking good. Donnis' 4 patches just called out to be used in the  disappearing 4 patch style.  And this is Machelle's beginning multiplying 4-patch, you can see all of her blocks grouped together at the top.
How exciting to see everyone so engrossed with these two new pattern ideas.  Really looking forward to seeing February's show and tell to see what the finishing looks are.

New Blogger on Line

Welcome everyone.  We are starting a new blog so that our ladies will have information with a few key strokes.

We have a meeting coming up Wednesday, Jan. 9th from 9 am - ????? and we are bringing in our sewn 4-patches to learn a new method.  This session is called:

ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK - Multiplying 4 Patch

You can see below some pictures of possibilities of what a person can make after they learn this method.  There will be even more examples on Wednesday.

These three bed sizes are from the Piotique Quilters Guild work day for members that needed a "quilt hug"

This is using only 2 colors and is a small table cover.

Chop and mix from grandson's quilt that started all of this

Chop and only turn that is also in grandson's quilt.  Hopefully all the blocks will be sewn together and on display at the meeting.

Incase you want to jog your memory, you are to bring in your 4 patches all sewn together

either 4" size squares which will measure at 7.5" block
or 6" size squares which will measure at 11.5" block
or 6.5" size squares which will measure at 12.5" block

All cutting will be done at the meeting.  Bring cutting mats, rulers, rotary cutters, sewing machine and all supplies (1/4" foot great) that you would normally use to sew with.  Remember to bring your lunch also.

One of the ladies let me know that she will be making a table runner using 3 groups of 4-patches and border material.  Getting excited to see what every one will bring.  It's amazing how color choices can change this simple block.

See you next week.
